My Soul as I See It
Exploring photography as a powerful tool in education, i.imagine opened the world of photography to sixty kids for an immersive five-month long project. Students ranging in age from eleven to eighteen discovered photography fundamentals, artistic principles, and the artist within themselves. My Soul as I See It celebrates this photographic adventure of artistic self-discovery.
Between January and May 2016, these sixty Northern Kentucky students discovered the amazing art of photography with i.imagine’s founder Shannon Eggleston. Weekly, Eggleston visited Boone County schools, provided cameras, and creatively shared her passion for photography by pairing technical concepts with an applicable FotoFocus 2016 Biennial Artist. In a culmination exercise, each student selected one final piece that best represented his or her understanding of photography fundamentals in an artistic interpretation of the exhibition’s theme, My Soul as I See It. This exhibition celebrates the power of photography as a tool to educate, build character, and discover the artist within us all.
