Participant Bios

Calcagno Cullen, Curator, Wave Pool, Cincinnati
Calcagno Cullen is socially-engaged artist, arts administrator, curator, and educator. After receiving her M.F.A. at the University of Cincinnati in 2007, she moved to San Francisco to pursue art world dreams and utopian visions. During her time in California she served as the Education Associate for School and Teacher Programs at SFMOMA and Gallery Director for Adobe Books Backroom Gallery. She recently returned to Cincinnati with the goal of developing community through socially-engaged art. She co-founded Wave Pool, a gallery, residency program, studio, and community space, with her partner Skip Cullen in late 2014. Cullen’s life mission is to create empathy and understanding through art. When not curating exhibitions, working with artists, or developing her own artistic practice, she is teaching or volunteering, often with her two-year-old in tow.
Marc Governanti, Artist, Cincinnati
Marc Governanti is a Cincinnati-based video and sound artist. In his work, Governanti mixes experimental, abstract, surreal, and absurdist themes, often deconstructing commercial media norms to create a critical space in which unquestioned assumptions and unspoken structures reveal paradoxical commitments.
